Professional image: Success with clients and colleagues

Ale Marroquín

Successful Relations: With my clients or my colleagues?

You are a key piece of the company. Everything you do at work represents the organization you belong to. To be successful as a professional and to strengthen relationships with your clients and your coworkers, it is important to consider your professional image as a whole.

Customer service as a reflection of your professional image

  • Never leave a client waiting on the line without checking in, even if they aren't your specific client.

  • Always ask the client if they need anything else.

  • Be proactive: Try to solve problems for clients that aren't technically "yours."

  • Avoid the "spoiled client" myth: Never think that too much customer service is "spoiling" them.

  • Always report back to a client and never ignore a request because you don't consider it important.

Building a professional image through internal relationships

The person who maintains good relations with both clients and colleagues is the one with the greatest potential to grow within the company. This is the person you can entrust with big tasks because you know they have the social ease to represent a positive professional image of the company.

  • Care for your tone: Watch how you address others; do not think you have more power by treating them poorly.

  • Public leadership: Be mindful of how you address your employees in public.

  • Integrity: Never speak ill of a client and never let personal issues with a colleague affect the service provided to their clients.

Getting along and strengthening relationships makes work easier for everyone. Building a professional image based on collaboration ensures that the final result is a success. Building and strengthening relationships is the fast track to professional success. Are you ready to be the face of your company?
